QUILTERS

.....a stitch in time saves nine............Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without............When life hands you scraps - make quilts!............We brake for fabric shops............short needle - smaller stitches............When you sleep under a quilt, you sleep under a blanket of love................So many quilts, so little time!............

          Who We Are...
Instructor, Mona Barrett has been ably leading us into the world of quilting, incorporating various techniques and styles. Being experienced in many aspects of quilting, Mona has shared her expertise and her massive library of quilting resources and we have exchanged tips and patterns among ourselves as well.

We meet every Thursday at Lucerne Valley Senior Center from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM to learn and to share. Visitors and new members of all skill levels are always welcome! There are no fees. Just come and enjoy!

          Current Projects

  • Group Project ~ In the past, we have created several quilts as fund-raisers for our local senior citizens group, in appreciation of the use of the beautiful Senior Citizens facility for our meetings. Current project ~ Crazy Quilt Vests!
  • Individual Projects ~ When not working on a group project, we have worked individual projects of our own choosing, or each on our own version of a class selected project such as our first project, a sampler quilt, through which we all learned a variety of techniques from strip piecing, to fans, & applique.

The Calico Quilt

Winter came and out we'd go,

icy fingers in the snow

We'd rush indoors on frozen toes

to toasty quilts of calico

& fragrant cocoa in a cup...

Sweet memories to warm us up

as winter days now come and go

with cocoa, quilts & calico.

          .About Our Members
          Mona ~
Our instructor is well-versed in all aspects of quilting & many of her quilts are shown in the photos of the 1999 Quilt Show at Holiday Faire. Her crazy quilt, many years in the making is truly spectacular! Mona has done some quilt restoration.
"Rebel"
Many of Rebel's quilts are shown in the quilt show photos from the link to the "Holiday Faire". Rebel does a fantastic job on "mini-quilts" as well as full-size quilts.
Evy
Evy does beautiful applique work & likes to use her quilting skills to create gifts for her family.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth's quilts show a love of color and also her "other love", genealogy. Elizabeth has her own web page featuring some of her work and interests.
Marcia
Preferring to hand-quilt, Marcia enjoys making smaller quilted items & not necessarily traditional quilts. Mini wall hangings, quilts featuring photos or special themes are favorites. Marcia also has a webpage with photos of some of her work.
